The safest way to thaw meat is to put it on the lowest shelf of your refrigerator about 24 hours before you plan to cook the food. If the meat is still not properly thawed by the time you are ready to cook, transfer the wrapped meat to a large bowl and fill it with cool water. Allow the meat to sit in the water bath until no longer frozen. Pour in fresh cool water as needed.
